Excited because I spent 20+ years devoted to something monumental (pioneering the Kids Yoga movement), and I was ready for a rest—physically, mentally, entrepreneurially.
And, scared because I had no idea what life would look like without “doing.” Without serving. Without producing. Without a big mission to speak about when someone asked me, “What do you do?” Because let’s be real, our culture values this way too much and our worth often gets wrapped up in achievements and titles.
Once I landed in Southeast Asia with just a small bag of clothes and no clear identity … I struggled.
I felt lost without a job title or business card.
I felt insecure introducing myself without attaching it to my work.
I felt invisible without something meaningful to speak about.
And, I was unprepared for how uncomfortable it was to rest, to slow down, and to just be.
You may be wondering—why couldn’t I just relax and enjoy an extended vacation lying in a hammock in tropical Bali, reading!?
So, I got deeply curious about this too!
And, here’s what I learned …
- After years of going, doing, and hustling, your nervous system is wired to stay in overdrive.
- Without purpose, your mind can make up stories convincing you that you are worthless or lazy.
- Overworking is often more socially accepted than taking the time to truly rest and connect with yourself.
Thanks to my Coach, I discovered that my sabbatical was essential not just for rest but for recovery. It was a time to remember who I am outside of “what I do” and to reconnect with my deeper Self that exists when I am not serving, producing, or achieving.
If you are at a transition phase in your life after a big time of doing—like your no longer raising your young kids, or you just left your high-level corporate job, or you are entering midlife, or your business no longer feels aligned, or you just know inside something is shifting …
Like you are in a moment where the old no longer fits—and the new hasn’t quite arrived …
And you are in between identities, unsure what’s next …
I want to remind you …
It’s OK to take a rest.
It’s OK to slow down.
It’s OK to just be in the sacred in-between.
Maybe you don’t take a trip to Indonesia—but maybe you take daily, phone-free walks. Maybe you sip afternoon tea staring into space. Or maybe you carve out spacious, slow connection time with a trusted friend.
Because, slowing down and resting during your transition is where the magic—and your next vision live. It is where your nervous system unwinds. It is where your true Self reemerges.
And this … is where your authentic next chapter can begin to form.
Not rushed. Not forced. But rooted. Clear. And, nourished by who you are becoming.
This is exactly the work I love to do with my clients in my Leading with Love Coaching. I help you to navigate the tender, often uncomfortable, in between space—supporting you to vision and map out the strategy to transition lovingly into your new sacred purpose—without feeling lost.
