Tomorrow, I am leaving my new home country, Portugal, to spend 5-weeks in the United States. While returning to America during this heightened political climate has me anxious AF—I am very much looking forward to quality time with my parents, adventures with my Boo, and fun connections with my favorite friends … let alone hot springs, camping trips, and ecstatic dances.
I have decided—that in order to be fully present with my people and rest my entrepreneurial brain—I am taking a little summer sabbatical.
Not from my clients or working in my biz, as I love supporting them too damn much—but from building my coaching practice and working on my biz. So basically, a pause from strategizing the growth of Leaders of Love, writing weekly newsletters, and all forms of marketing.
This way, I can spend spacious days with my loved ones, as well as resting, dreaming, and listening about what’s next in my biz
Spoiler alert: I have a vision for making videos, growing my private practice, offering a women’s mastermind group, organizing a Leaders of Love online community, and creating a masterclass to name just a few future things.
While the idea to take a summer sabbatical came easy to me—as I deeply know and teach the value of time off from working—I am also present to feeing internalized pressure by my inner work horse.
The one that is ruled by the dominant culture and says:
In order to be successful, you must keep working.
In order to be relevant, you must keep producing.
In order to be valued, you must keep hustling.
And while I know this voice is outside myself, and that my inner wisdom holds the truth about taking time off—I share this with you in case you have a similar conditioning. In case you also know that taking time off is important, and in case you also struggle with giving yourself full permission to do so.
Even if you are like me …
On track with your goals.
Value Self care.
Know that time off is necessary for sustainable success.
Whether you are able to take a weekend, a week, or 5-weeks off—it can be hard to fully let go of the tasks, the email’s, the doing.
Why?
Because our culture tells us otherwise.
So, while I do not have it fully figured out myself, I am still going to take my damn vacay.
I am worth it.
And so are you.
And because, with rest and restoration comes fresh perspective, renewed energy, and a clearer vision for the future.
Wishing you a wonderful August—and I’ll catch you in September!
