And, while I know a lot about a lot of things—choosing a shower head, backsplash, paint colors, or an induction stove top are not my wheel house.
Really, I don’t have any neural pathways holding information about appliances or tiles.🤯
So, instead of trying to figure it out all on my own … I have been asking for help.
Help from friends who have done remodels multiple times before; help from a pro-designer who knows aesthetics; and, help from my mother who has a killer eye for interior design.
Now, don’t get me wrong. While I am doing it, I have actually felt quite vulnerable asking for support. My truth is, I take pride in being self reliant, I value being self sufficient, and I am way more comfy being an expert vs. a novice.
If you can imagine, my asking for help has been humbling AF?
Can you relate?
Is it easy for you to ask for help?
The truth is, when it comes down it … our human behavior is wired to do things on our own. Culture has trained us to believe that we are weak if we ask for help. And, many of us grew up raised to do it on our own, or not at all.
My experience with this project is challenging these dominant cultural beliefs—and I see that it is OK to ask for help.
In fact, it is necessary!
Especially when we have a dream of creating something that we don’t know how to do on our own. Especially, if we want to get it done, sooner rather than later. Especially, if we don’t want to make a hundred mistakes—which always come with a cost.
It reminds me of my entrepreneur clients: soulful women who have a big and meaningful vision of starting or launching something big in their biz—but are missing the confidence and practical knowledge.
For example, they are masterful at teaching Yoga, but not as much in business building.
This is normal.
I mean, we can’t know everything. Nor should we try to.
My clients do what I am doing. They get the help they need—by investing in themselves.
It’s why I created my Leading with Love private program. So that you don’t have to try to build your business in the dark. So that you don’t have to make mistakes that come with a cost. And, so that you don’t have to feel so alone on your rollercoaster entrepreneurial journey.
